If it was obvious, you probably wouldn't be here

Tweet @sunsetndustries if you've got more questions and I'll do my best to answer.

  • Who are you?

I'm Sara. I make cyberpunk art and paint portraits; I also do key (promotional), concept, and environmental art for indie games. This website showcases my personal work and portraits, but if you'd like to check out my professional portfolio click here . If you want to buy a print, a coffee mug, or something else, click here to go to my shop.

  • What is the World of Null?

The World of Null is a universe of things I've been working on over the past few years. I always wanted to make a graphic novel but the idea of drawing the same people over and over again just didn't interest me. Instead, I created a loosely connected universe that has begun to grow out of control.

Because when you get locked into a real glitter addiction, you push it as far as you can.

  • Where do you get your inspiration?!

Everywhere. I grew up on the edge of the Southwestern desert near the border of Texas and New Mexico, so I think that's where my need to capture wide open scenes comes from. Sometimes I see a photo from the news that sparks an idea, other times they just come to me while I'm washing dishes or arguing with someone about how the cost of paper towels really *have* increased over the years.

  • What do you use to make your art?

I use Mischief for drawing, I use Photoshop for editing, and I use Corel Painter for creating everything else. Oh, and a wacom!

Mischief is amazing because it's basically a limitless canvas that lets you go on forever. Photoshop will always be my favorite editor (I hear Gimp is getting better though!), and Corel Painter is essential to everything I do. I'm basically breathing soul into sterile flat images with math, it's wizardry! If you've never tried Painter, give it a go! You'll never use Photoshop for painting again, trust me.

  • But I want to buy original works!

All of my work is digital, which means there are no "original" works to speak of. Sorry. I prefer to work this way because it saves time, it lets me have total creative control and even lets me experiment in ways that just wouldn't be possible with traditional media.

  • Can I commission you to do [insert exciting project here!]?

    Maybe!

The problem with most private commissions is that people usually don't know what they want from their project. If you don't know what you want, I won't be able to deliver something that you'll like. It's a bit like participating in a cakewalk without any rules or music or anything: you're just on a treadmill to nowhere hoping that you win somehow. Not an exciting idea, is it?

And have any of you ever been in a cakewalk? I have. They're not easy. I don't know why the old adage says cakewalks are easy, walking around with a sheetcake for half an hour is NOT an easy feat!

  • There's someone on Reddit/Tumblr/Imgur etc. pretending to be you!

I've been at this for a while so it's actually probably me using a different username. I'd ask that if you do spot someone you think is pretending to be me or claiming my work as their own that you don't witch hunt them and make their lives miserable - just shoot me a message in the contact form below and let me know the details. I'll let you know if it's me and if it's not, I'll handle it.

Again, please don't witch hunt people. There's enough misery in this world without us adding to it, even if it makes us feel really great for a short time.
